What do I need to do for my 12 week old puppy that was diagnosed at 8?
At 12 weeks, your pup is due for an exam and the next round of shots, fecal exams, and deworming anyway. She also needs to be put on heartworm preventative if that has not already been done. Your vet will examine the area and see if it is an ongoing problem. Some cases require antibiotics, some require cleansing of the area, and some only need the hormones of adulthood to resolve the vulvovaginitis. It is recommended not to spay female pups until after they have had at least one or two heats if they have this condition, because it often clears up with the female hormones.
